The brief was to write an essay on an industry creative. I had the chance to interview Chris Yee a while back and get some great design insights. I compiled my findings into a visual essay in the form of a mini zine using InDesign.

As I am an emerging creative aiming to venture into art direction, Yee is a source of inspiration as he has generated highly praised outcomes with large brands. I understand art directors as practitioners who execute creative visions. The role “requires innovative leaders with multi-disciplinary skill sets” (D&AD, 2024). Yee specifically has done a range of art direction projects with notable global brands, and at the core, his multi-disciplinary skill set has driven this success. Thus, Yee is a role model because of his artistic refinement and ability to stay true to his design values and aesthetics, while venturing into campaigns for global brands such as La Mer.

“Design can be used as a power of good to communicate positive stories of now” - Chris Yee
